EXIDE - Automotive

Exide

Exide Technologies is a long-standing battery manufacturer which supplies portable power for a range of different uses. From automotive batteries to industrial vehicles like forklifts and trucks, Exide has an extensive range of batteries to meet various needs. Exide operates in more than 80 countries and supplies a great deal of the world’s stored energy needs in the transportation and commercial markets.

History of Exide Batteries

Exide batteries have a long history, dating back to 1888 when W.W. Gibbs founded Exide’s predecessor company, the Electric Storage Battery Company. Once patents were acquired to make the storage battery a commercial product, these original batteries were designed and marketed towards electric fighting companies.

Exide batteries went on to power electric taxicabs in the early 1900s, and eventually powered Cadillac’s first battery-started internal combustion engine in 1912. In World War II, Exide batteries supplied submarine batteries to the U.S. Navy and other vehicles.

In recent years, Exide acquired Aker Wade Technologies which designs advanced charging systems for industrial forklifts.

Exide Batteries

Exide batteries are suitable for a range of automotive, marine, powersport, commercial vehicles. On the automotive side, you can purchase an Exide car battery, Exide AGM batteries, start-stop auxiliary batteries, and more to power light vehicles. If you have a newer vehicle that uses start-stop technology, an Exide AGM battery is the perfect choice. These batteries are durable and have a longer lifespan than a traditional car battery.

For more heavy-duty power needs, Exide batteries have a commercial line for trucks and other large vehicles. The commercial line can cover AGV, ground support equipment for airports, lifting platforms, pallet trucks, mining and agricultural equipment, and even electric wheelchairs.

On the flip side, you can buy an Exide leisure battery to power light marine craft, either for commercial or leisure uses. Finally, Exide also supplies smaller batteries in the powersport industry to power motorcycles or scooters. No matter what your needs are, you’re sure to find a high-powered and long-lasting solution from Exide Technologies.

Exide Battery Chargers

While you can usually use any type of car battery charger to give your batteries more juice, Exide has its own branded chargers. These are a valuable tool that can be used to help you get a flat battery started and even check the health of your battery.

You can pick up a 12/7 Exide car battery charger which is ideal for charging standard batteries, AGM, and GEL batteries. These chargers can be used on batteries for cars, boats, caravans, motorcycles, or even tractors. Exide battery chargers are fully automatic and have built-in temperature compensators so they can be used in different climates without issue. The chargers will also pick up if there’s something wrong with the battery.
